According to the American Opometric Association, you should get an eye exam annually from age 5 to 18 and at age 65 and older. For age 40 through 64 at least every 2 years is recommended for most poulations, through contact wearers and some other groups should be treated annually.

How Often Do I Need My Eyes Checked?
The American Optometric Association recommends the following guidelines for people with no signs of eye or vision problems:

Wisconsin Vision in Green Bay accepts most vision plans including VSP. Your vision insurance covers routine eye exams and may pay for part of your eyeglasses or contact lenses if needed. Flexible spending accounts can be used to pay for eye exams and eyewear.

Does the Green Bay location accept walk-in appointments?
Walk-in and same-day appointments are subject to availability around scheduled appointments. Please schedule an appointment online to ensure you meet with one of our eye doctors the same day you come into the store.
What are the AOA guidelines for kid’s eye exam frequency?
Your child’s eyes will change as they grow. Toddlers should have their first eye exam at the age of 3. Between the ages of 5 and 6, kids should have an eye exam before starting kindergarten. From the ages of 6 to 18, an eye exam should take place once a year or as recommended by your eye doctor.
What eye conditions are tested for at a pediatric eye exam?
The eye doctor may check for conditions such as lazy eye, crossed eyes, eye misalignment, depth perception, hand-eye coordination and color vision. If your eye doctor finds any of these during your child’s eye exam, they will share the results and any treatments they recommend.
